Gwyn Morgan devoted three decades to building North America’s largest upstream oil and gas producer. He led the creation of EnCana Corporation from the merger of Alberta Energy Company and PanCanadian Energy in early 2002, serving as founding President and Chief Executive Officer until retiring at the end of 2005. Before forming EnCana, Mr. Morgan was President and CEO of Alberta Energy Company which he joined at the time of its startup in 1975. EnCana Corporation is Canada’s largest energy company and North America’s largest producer of natural gas. Its enterprise value of approximately $50 billion, ranks among the top five Canadian headquartered corporations.
Mr. Morgan was voted Canada’s most respected CEO for 2005 in an end-of-year survey of 250 chief executive officers sponsored by the Globe and Mail and KPMG. He was also named Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the Year of 2005 by the Financial Post Business Magazine and CTV.He currently writes a business column for Canada’s most widely read national newspaper, serves as a Non Executive Chairman of SNC-Lavalin Group Inc., a director of HSBC Holdings plc, and the Manning Centre for Building Democracy, and is a member of Accenture’s International Energy Advisory Board. He is also a trustee of the Fraser Institute and an Advisor for the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education.
Cyd Jenefsky, Ph.D., is passionate about higher education as a powerful tool for personal and social transformation. In various academic and consultative roles in the past 25 years, she has facilitated collaboration to spawn educational and organizational innovation. She is currently Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at John F. Kennedy University and affiliated faculty at the Center for Educational Leadership, Innovation and Policy at San Diego State University. She previously taught at the University of Georgia and University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has also published, designed and directed programs in multicultural studies, women’s studies, and social ecology. As a consultant, she works with universities and other nonprofits in the U.S. and Kenya to foster organizational learning and build leadership capacity for ground-breaking change initiatives.
Some of Cyd’s more recent projects focus on expanding the boundaries of transformative learning in higher education. She developed an experimental institute at JFK University to integrate social-emotional-spiritual learning into baccalaureate education. This fall she is embarking on a four-year project with the Fetzer Institute to cultivate the next generation of higher ed leadership in transformative learning (integrating body, mind and spirit). She is also working with JFKU faculty and external partners to develop an applied leadership program premised on inner development as the foundation for effecting large-scale systems change.
She is a member of the Advisory Board of Connecting for Change.
Theo Koffler has lived and worked in Toronto, Tel Aviv and now Tiburon, California. She has had the unique opportunity to apply her compassion and talents to business and not-for-profit organizations here and abroad. She co-founded Super-Pharm Israel Ltd., Israel's national drugstore chain; established Therapeutic Riding for the Disabled in Israel and has currently launched Therapeutic Riding in Jerico and the Palestinian Territories. In 2007, Theo formed Between4Eyes, a non-profit organization that aims to disseminate mindful-awareness education programs as a tool for high school and university students, educators, health care professionals and human services providers to use in building peaceful and conflict resolving lifestyles. The initiative's long-term goal is to develop replicable education models for the scale-up of such programs in resource-poor settings, such as Africa and the Middle East.
Laurie Meadoff, co-founder and CEO of Chat Ventures, formally NextNext Entertainment, a New York-based not-for-profit production company focusing on youth television programming, creates bridges to connect young people around the world through communication. She has executive produced Chat The Planet, a two-way television series which reached 350 million homes globally as well as the award winning in line series Hometown Baghdad. She has also produced programming for Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, ABC, HBO Family, MTV and VH1. Passionately envisioning a world without barriers and prejudice, Ms. Meadoff strives to build these bridges through tolerance and understanding, and her primary tool of choice is dialogue. For more than twenty years as an agent for social exchange, Ms. Meadoff has garnered an international reputation as an ardent advocate for the voice of the young.
As the founder of CityKids Foundation, Ms. Meadoff established one of the nation's leading nonprofit multi-cultural youth communication and leadership providers. Since 1985, CityKids has succeeded in forming a safe environment for young people in an extended-family atmosphere. As a result of Ms. Meadoff’s community and youth outreach through media and performance, she developed a unique connection with kids that she continues to strive to empower.
Stephanie Hanford-Hass specializes in designing business and policy strategies linked to sustainability. She focuses on stakeholder engagement, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and climate and energy.
Stephanie worked internationally for over 10 years with leading environmental organizations such as the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) in Geneva. There she co-founded the Stakeholder Dialogue Department and was responsible for developing and managing public-private dialogues and partnerships on topics such as CSR on-site in Africa, Latin America, Asia, North America and Europe. She regularly conducted interviews with corporate and community leaders and published key messages and policy recommendations in WBCSD literature. Stephanie spent two years with the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro and was the Manager of the Center for International Environmental Law’s (CIEL) Geneva office.
She is a Fellow at The Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (IGSD) in Washington, DC. She holds a Masters in International Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School, Tufts University and a B.A. from Loyola College, Maryland.
Darcy Winslow is the founder of Designs for a Sustainable World, which focuses on the development of practical yet aggressive strategies for organizations to create and adopt more sustainable and ultimately regenerative business practices.
Ms. Winslow worked at Nike for 21 years and held many positions within the business, as well as Senior Advisor to the Nike Foundation, which seeks to empower disadvantaged girls ages 10 to 19 years, through poverty alleviation and creating economic livelihood opportunities. She also created a new division within the business and served as General Manager of Sustainable Business Strategies, a role focused on developing and implementing more environmental and socially sustainable business strategies across the organization. In 2001 she led the creation of the Women's Footwear Division as General Manager, and then in 2004 the creation of Nike's Global Women's Fitness Footwear, Apparel and Equipment business as General Manager.
Ms. Winslow currently serves on the Board of Directors for SOLV, an Oregon non-profit; the Board of Advisors for World Pulse Media/Pulse Wire; the Board of Advisors for Greenopolis; and the Board of Advisors for The Cloud Institute for Sustainability, and Executive Board member for Climate Prosperity, Board of Directors for Ziba Design, Inc. and the Board of Advisors for Mercy Corps Phoenix Fund. She is also an Executive in Residence at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
